Transfiguration of Jesus Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language.Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him. He led them up a high mountain. They went off by themselves. There Jesus was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun. His clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah. They were talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, 'Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters. One for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.'
While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice from the cloud said, 'This is my Son, whom I love. I am well pleased with him. Listen to him!'
When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground. They were terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. He said, 'Get up. Don't be afraid.'
When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, 'Don't tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.'
The disciples asked him, 'Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?'
Jesus replied, 'To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come. They did not recognize him. They have done to him everything they wished. In the same way, the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.'
Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.
Jesus took three of his disciples up to a mountain. There they saw something amazing. Jesus changed before their eyes. His face shone like the sun. His clothes became bright white. They saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. Moses represented the Law. Elijah represented the Prophets. Both pointed to Jesus.
Peter wanted to stay on the mountain. He wanted to build shelters. But the voice from heaven said, 'Listen to him.' Jesus is the one we must listen to. He is greater than Moses and Elijah.
The disciples were afraid. But Jesus touched them and said, 'Don't be afraid.' He always comforts us when we are afraid.
The transfiguration showed the disciples a glimpse of Jesus' glory. He was not just a teacher or a prophet. He is the Son of God. He is the King of kings. One day, everyone will see him in his glory. But first, he had to suffer and die. He had to rise from the dead. Then he would enter into his glory. We will see his glory one day too. We will be with him forever.
