Jesus Calms the Storm Story - Bible

One day, Jesus got into a boat with his disciples. He said to them, 'Let us go over to the other side of the lake.' So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, Jesus fell asleep.

A squall came down on the lake. The wind was so strong that the boat was being swamped. Water was pouring into the boat. They were in great danger.

The disciples went and woke Jesus. They said, 'Master, Master, we are going to drown!'

Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters. He said, 'Quiet! Be still!' The storm stopped. It was completely calm.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Where is your faith?'

The disciples were terrified and amazed. They asked each other, 'Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.'

Jesus had been sleeping peacefully during the storm. He was not afraid. He trusted his Father. The disciples were terrified. They thought they were going to die. They forgot that Jesus was with them. They forgot that he had power over everything.

When Jesus spoke, the wind and waves obeyed him. They had to listen to their Creator. The wind stopped blowing. The waves stopped crashing. The lake became as smooth as glass.

The disciples learned that Jesus is more powerful than any storm. He is Lord over nature. He controls the wind and the waves. Nothing is too hard for him.

We all face storms in our lives. Sometimes we feel like we are drowning in problems and fear. But Jesus is with us. He can calm the storms in our hearts. He can give us peace when everything around us is chaos. We need to trust him, even when we are afraid. We need to remember that he is in control. He has power over every storm. When we call out to him, he hears us. He will give us peace. He will calm the storm or calm us in the storm.
