Feeding the 5000 Story - Bible

Jesus had been healing sick people all day. He had made blind people see and lame people walk. A huge crowd of people followed Him. There were about five thousand men, plus many women and children. That meant there could be ten or fifteen thousand people in total!

As evening came, Jesus' disciples came to Him. They said, 'This place is empty and far from any town. Send the people away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.'

But Jesus said, 'They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.'

The disciples were shocked. They said, 'We have only five loaves of bread and two small fish. That is not enough for all these people!'

Jesus said, 'Bring the bread and fish to me.'

Jesus told the people to sit down on the grass. Then He took the five loaves and the two fish. He looked up to heaven and gave thanks to God. He broke the loaves and gave them to His disciples. The disciples gave the food to the people.

Everyone ate and was completely full! There was even food left over. The disciples gathered up the leftovers and filled twelve baskets with pieces of bread and fish.

About five thousand men ate that day, not counting the women and children. Everyone saw the amazing miracle. They said, 'This is truly the Prophet who was supposed to come into the world!'

Jesus took a small amount of food and made it feed a huge crowd. He showed that He is the Son of God who can provide for all our needs. He cares about our hungry bodies, not just our spirits.

The disciples learned that nothing is too hard for Jesus. They thought five loaves and two fish were not enough. But with Jesus, even a little bit becomes more than enough. He can take the small things we offer Him and turn them into something that blesses many people.

Jesus is the Bread of Life. He gives us what we need to live, both physical food and spiritual food. When we trust Him, He will take care of us. He will give us what we need, and sometimes there will even be leftovers!
