Birth of Moses Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language.A new king, called Pharaoh, ruled Egypt. He did not know about Joseph and all the good things Joseph had done for Egypt. This Pharaoh saw that the Israelite families were becoming many and strong. He was afraid they would take over his land.
Pharaoh made a terrible law. Every baby boy born to the Israelite slaves must be thrown into the Nile River. Only baby girls could live. This was a very sad time for God's people.
One Israelite family had a beautiful baby boy. His mother looked at him and loved him so much. She hid him for three months. When she could no longer hide him, she did something very brave.
She took a basket made of papyrus reeds and covered it with tar to make it waterproof. She placed her baby boy inside and put the basket among the reeds by the riverbank. The baby's big sister, Miriam, stood far away to watch what would happen.
Soon, Pharaoh's daughter came to the river to bathe. Her servant girls walked along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent a slave girl to get it.
When she opened the basket, she saw the baby crying. She felt sorry for him and said, 'This is one of the Hebrew babies.'
The baby's sister Miriam ran to the princess and asked, 'Shall I go and find a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby for you?'
'Go,' Pharaoh's daughter said.
So Miriam ran and got her mother! The princess said to the baby's mother, 'Take this baby and nurse him for me. I will pay you.'
The baby's mother took her son home and cared for him. When the boy grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter. He became her son. She named him Moses, which sounds like the Hebrew word for 'drawn out,' because she drew him out of the water.
God had a special plan for Moses. He would grow up to lead God's people out of Egypt! God protected baby Moses and heard the cries of His people.
