Adam and Eve Story - Bible

God placed the man Adam and the woman Eve in a beautiful garden called Eden. The garden was perfect. Beautiful flowers grew everywhere. Delicious fruit hung from the trees. A sparkling river flowed through the garden.

God told Adam and Eve, 'You may eat fruit from any tree in the garden. But you must not eat fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. If you eat from that tree, you will die.'

One day, a sneaky snake came to Eve. The snake was more tricky than any other animal God had made. The snake asked Eve, 'Did God really say you cannot eat from any tree in the garden?'

Eve answered, 'We may eat fruit from the trees. But God told us not to eat fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden. He said we cannot even touch it, or we will die.'

The snake said, 'You will not die! God knows that if you eat that fruit, your eyes will be opened. You will become like God, knowing good and evil.'

Eve looked at the tree. The fruit looked beautiful and delicious. She thought it would make her wise. So she picked some fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to Adam, and he ate it too.

Suddenly, their eyes were opened. For the first time, they realized they were naked. They felt ashamed. They sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.

That evening, Adam and Eve heard God walking in the garden. They were afraid, so they hid among the trees.

God called out, 'Where are you?'

Adam answered, 'I heard you in the garden. I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.'

God asked, 'Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat fruit from the tree I commanded you not to eat from?'

Adam said, 'The woman you gave me gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.'

God asked Eve, 'What have you done?'

Eve said, 'The snake tricked me, and I ate.'

Then God spoke to the snake. 'Because you did this, you are cursed. You will crawl on your belly and eat dust all the days of your life. You and the woman will be enemies. Her child will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.'

To the woman, God said, 'You will have great pain when you give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'

To Adam, God said, 'Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree, the ground is cursed. You will have to work hard and sweat to grow food. Thorns and weeds will grow. In the end, you will return to the ground. You were made from dust, and to dust you will return.'

God made clothes from animal skins for Adam and Eve to wear. Then God sent them out of the beautiful garden. He placed angels with flaming swords to guard the way to the Tree of Life.

Even though Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God still loved them. He promised that one day someone would come to crush the snake's head. That promise was about Jesus, who would come to save people from sin. God already had a plan to bring love and forgiveness back into the world.
